Welcome to Forever Jobless

First, a few words about most the books or blogs you read – forget about them.

Chances are you’re following the wrong information which is not going to help you get where you want to go.

My name’s Billy Murphy, and I’m a 29 year old serial entrepreneur living in Austin, TX.

I’ve always been interested in making money. Ever since I was a kid, making money always intrigued me. When I was 9 years old, I got a paper route. You had to be 12 to get one, so I had my mom call and talk to them to see if they’d make an exception.

I wanted it really bad. The kid across the street was quitting, and I heard he made about $50/week. That’s like millions to a 9 year old. Long story short – I got the job, and the money, and have been hooked on learning how to make more of it ever since.

I’ve done everything from selling sports card collections, to investing in real estate, to being a professional poker player, and starting several different companies. I’ve had a number of successes, and have got my ass kicked a few times too.

It’s worked out pretty well so far. Through all the experiences, I’ve learned what to do if you want to make a lot of money, as well as what not to do.

I’ve always believed if you want uncommon results, you’ve got to travel an uncommon path.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—. I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. -Robert Frost

A long time ago I decided that I needed to learn what the rich were doing to get rich. I worked on all sorts of ideas from what I saw the rich doing, and years ago I would finally learn, it wasn’t what the rich were doing that made them rich, it was why and how they were doing it.

Making money is not complicated, it’s just not an area explored by many people you know.

Why did I start Forever Jobless?

I’ve had a lot of long conversations with friends who wanted to know how I make money. What I’ve learned about making money is more than I can explain in a phone conversation, or an email exchange. This seemed to be the most efficient way to share what I know, and to help a greater number of people.

Due to a lot of urging, I finally caved.

The two main reasons I finally gave in:

1. I really want to help people. I enjoy helping teach through my experiences and what I’ve learned, and I do get satisfaction when I give advice about business/making money and hear that it’s helped someone. I guess it’s my way of giving back.

I feel there’s a terrible environment in the “make money” space online. There’s a lot of people teaching how to make money online, and very few of these people actually know how to make money.

Most of these people only make money selling information on how to make money. So, all of the aspiring entrepreneurs are learning from people they should not be listening to, and everyone is being taught nonsense (e.g. learn how to sell ebooks to people who want to sell ebooks about selling ebooks).

It’s viewed as one of the most crowded markets there is, and while it may be a very crowded market, there’s not a lot of value being offered right now.

2. I’d like to expand my network. I feel there’s a lot of people out there I’d love to meet, but have no idea they exist right now, and vice versa, there may be people out there who’d be interested in getting to know me, but have no idea I exist.

I’ve pretty much stayed behind the scenes in everything I’ve done so far outside of a few entrepreneurial groups knowing what I’m up to. I think it would be beneficial to get to know more people, and have more people get to know me. I don’t really know what will come of it, but I won’t ever know unless I do it.

My goal with this site:

To put out better content than anyone else is putting out on the subject of making money. I’ll be honest, I’m not a writer. Not even close. But if you can get through my writing, it will be worth the effort.

What I do know, is how to make money.

I want to help people learn to do the same. It’s not a quick process, but if people stick it out, they’ll be amazed at how the money making process simplifies. It almost becomes laughably easy once you know how to play the game that so many others fail to understand. The people you’ll be playing the game against will rarely understand the rules, let alone be able to compete with you.

Who should read this blog?

People who want to learn to make real money. If you’re looking to make a couple bucks as an affiliate spammer this isn’t the blog for you.

There’s a ton of misinformation about how to make money. Most people who know how to make money, don’t blog. Most people who blog, don’t know how to make money. So, the majority of information being taught is by people who don’t know how to make money. Simple math will show the huge majority of people trying to make money online will be going in all the wrong directions.

Why?

Because the % chance they happened to land on some information they should be following is extremely low. If they did, the % chance they’d know that was the person to listen to would also be extremely low, because it will go against most of the misinformation they’ve heard, which will be the majority voice.

This blog will teach you to think outside the box.

Since most people operate inside the box, you’ll find the competition outside the box to be very low.

The biggest thing you can change today, is to start listening only to those you aspire to be like, and ignoring everyone else. If you are taking advice from people who haven’t been where you want to go yet, you are wasting your time.

Today’s a good day to change your course.

If you think you’ll get value of the things I plan to share, subscribe to the updates, and I’ll do my best to help you. Feel free to introduce yourself in the comments.

Welcome to Forever Jobless.

Glad to see this up and running – ’bout time!

I’m entered in the TMF competition starting an ecommerce business. I’m buying abroad and selling on eBay, amazon (soon), and ultimately my own ecommerce store. A lot of my efforts will be put towards branding. Any advice you can give along those lines would be greatly appreciated.

    Looking forward to future updates.

    Hi Billy,

All the best with teaching people to make money online. You sure are right when you say (@ Viperchill) that most bloggers in this space NEED to sell stuff to make money from their blogs.

For years I’ve been writing about making money online and exposing some of these charlatans who simply regurgitate nonsense they’ve read somewhere else. Usually somewhere like the WarriorForum.

But you do people like me an injustice when you claim that Viperchill and you are probably the only ones in this space “without a bunch of banners all over the site trying to sell shit”. You should take a wander down to my site sometime. There are several other good sites I could recommend to you. The MMO industry is a cess pit, a narcissistic, incestuous collection of the world’s rejects. But those are only the most visible characters in this space and you shouldn’t tar everyone with the same brush. 🙂

All the best with this blog.

    Reply
    • Billy

Thanks Clinton! It was a non-absolute statement.(i don’t even know if that’s a word) Such as, “everyone’s going out for drinks tonight”- but not meaning that literally 100% of everyone I know is getting a drink that night.

I’m sure there may be others who know their stuff and aren’t promoting lots of stuff all over, but I haven’t seen many. That was one of the reasons I started the blog- to meet other entrepreneurs that I’d want to meet, but don’t know yet.

      Reply
      • Clinton

        Hi again, Billy.

I’m a bit of the cynical type. I’ve seen MMO (Make Money Online) sales pitches come in all kinds of guises and many internet marketers take the line that they’re good guys and not trying to sell you anything. They want to gain your confidence first. Your raison de etre of meeting lots of other entrepreneurs is great, but starting a blog to post about MMO doesn’t seem the most obvious/effective way to go about meeting fellow entrepreneurs. It is a good way, however, to build up a following, to become a “guru”.

I’m intrigued by you associating yourself with Viperchill as the (probably/possibly/maybe not) the only other person “in this space” – i.e. MMO – without hard sell. Could you point me to Viperchill grade materials you’ve posted publicly? I would really like to read them.

I read it with great interest because I am a “pro” in the same industry as your membership site although with a rival company 🙂 The success that you have been able to achieve in such a short period of time has been very intriguing to me. And the reasons that you gave for that success basically just confirmed what I already suspected.

Like many other poker players I was blown away by the quality of coaches that you were able to bring aboard. You even lured away one of the best online players in the world in my opinion from the site that I am with last year I believe. I am a firm believer in quality over quantity as well. Ya, I definitely spent a substantial amount of time recruiting. Took a lot longer than people think, which is why the result was a good one. I was obviously late in the game, so I thought it was extremely important to get that part right.

      Glad to have you here.

Billy, I also came here from ViperChill and AMAZED at this first post. This has got to be the most honest writing I’ve seen in this niche. You, my friend, are the kind of guy I wish I had in my non-existent network of real friends to bounce ideas off of.

I’m trying to re-find myself after being destroyed by Google. Need to figure out a way to come up with my own services like you have because that is the way I feel I should be headed.

That’s for the new site. Going now to read the newer posts.

Thanks for the kind words Scott! — honest writing is what I’m going for. Too much junk/fluff in this space online right now.

Hope you like the other posts. I’ll have some new ones coming soon.

Hi Billy, I am a trained counsellor/hypnotherapist loaded with a mountain of knowledge about the human psyche, wanting to give this knowledge to everyone who needs or wants it. Am intrigued by your thinking and confidence and hope to be able to learn how to get myself ‘out there’ in the correct format. My website is about to be launched and have been studying how to market it for the past month. Still a great deal to learn about the ‘online’ world, but remaining enthusiastic and very hopeful. You are so right that there ‘overload’ in all areas and lots of experts offering stuff, not all of it is good. Fingers crossed I will find a way ‘outside of the box’.

Hey Joan, focus less on the marketing, and more on the value of the content. That will act as marketing in itself, as long as you do some marketing, and it’s the best content on the subject.

    Hi Billy,

For some reason when ever I read your stuff, I hear your voice (which I’ve never really heard) in Kevin Bacon’s voice and accent. But that’s another story.

Anyway, I’m wondering if you have any suggestions in terms of people actually worth checking out.

    Billy,

Thanks so much for the information. You have definitely whetted my appetite to learn more. I think it is really interesting how much of what you do is overcoming mental and emotional hurdles. I’m looking for a way to be able to work less and spend more time with my kids as they grow. I hope I can hustle and break down my own barriers in order to achieve my goals. Self-doubt is my biggest one.

    Cheers,
    Brandon

    Hi Billy,

I’m definitely into making money. It’s science, art, and to me, it’s like playing a game of finance. I really hope you’ll provide good insides about your success and failures, your goals and experience.

Hope to hear more from you.

    Thanks
    Megan

    Hi Billy….

Like you, my blog has introduced me to some of the most interesting people I now know. People I’d have never net otherwise.

One of those, The Mad FIentist, introduced me to your blog just yesterday. Great stuff and I hope one day we’ll have a chance to have a coffee.

Who knows? Maybe I can even lure you into being a speaker at one of our upcoming Chautauquas: https://jlcollinsnh.com/2013/02/24/meet-mr-money-mustache-jd-roth-cheryl-reed-me-for-a-chautauqua/
